Natural Treatment for Sprain 18th June 2009, 03:51
Many a time you woke up and feel a hurt in the area of your neck, the reason behind this may be sprain in your lower back area of neck and this can be caused by bad sleeping posture. This can also be happen while lifting any heavy weight. Neck sprain is called irritation in muscles, tendons and ligaments in upper back and also in neck area. It is an irritation in the tissues of neck.

Now that you understand some of the anatomy involved at the ankle joint, you are ready to learn about the different types of ankle sprain, how they are graded and how they are caused. Once you have a good foundation of the anatomy and the injury we can begin to discuss how to go about minimizing the chances of sustaining this common injury.

Treatment:

1. Your approach must include a plan, implementation, review of findings and follow-up. For example, if using the job observation program as a reinforcement strategy, first develop a checklist to ensure consistent evaluation of body mechanics. Then determine who will perform the inspections, establish a set frequency (e.g., weekly, monthly) and train them how to perform the observations.

2. Ice is critical to reducing swelling and using an ice whirlpool definitely has advantages over just ice in a bucket because heat is taken away from the ankle so much faster.

3. If you have a Grade 2 sprain, your doctor may recommend that you wear an ankle brace until the sprain heals and use crutches for a short time.

4. As with any injury, recovery time will depend on the seriousness of the sprain. Regardless of the severity, you can speed up the healing process by staying off your ankle and resting it as much as possible. No matter what the grade of injury, unless it is splinted or casted, your doctor will probably tell you to apply ice packs to relieve swelling and pain.

5. Ankle strengthening is an essential part of recovering from an ankle sprain. The key is to make sure you don't go too fast. Again, pain is an indicator that you may be doing too much too soon. Elastic band exercises are a good way to work on improving ankle strength. Other exercises like calf raises, lunges, and step ups will also work to strengthen your ankle muscles.

6. To get rid of neck pain, you can use some simple exercises at home, which may provide relief in pain from neck. You can practice an exercise, which includes moving of shoulders, and turn your head side from left to right, as this may help in providing relax from the pain. You can make a bandage with the black coffee on the neck sprain.

7. Shoes may increase or decrease your risk for ankle sprains. Some researchers theorize that certain types, such as high-top basketball shoes, may increase proprioceptive feedback from the ankle joint[12]. There is also some evidence that shoes offer some resistance to the excessive range of motion in the ankle.

How to Treat Sore Throat Naturally 18th June 2009, 03:48
Strep throat is inflammation of the throat, tonsils and lymph nodes due to infection with group A streptococcus bacteria. Strep throat is very common during the flu seasons and it can be preceded by mild symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing or cough. The incubation period of strep throat is around 3-5 days and most symptoms occur within this period of time. Common symptoms of strep throat are: throat inflammation and swelling, difficult swallowing, difficult breathing, mucus-producing cough, fatigue, body weakness, headache, nausea, poor appetite, enlargement of the lymph nodes and tonsils, excessive sweating and fever.

Remedies:

1. Home remedies for strep throat that can act as antibiotics are garlic, honey, olive leaf extract and tea tree oil. Such home remedies for strep throat can help in fighting infection and inflammation, but medical treatment shouldn’t be ignored. In fact, most home remedies for strep throat should be used only in addition to medical treatment with antibiotics.

2. If you have strep throat you should get a lot of rest and sleep because the body can recover while it's rested. Hot tea and soup can do good to the irritated tissue inside the throat, and drinking a lot of water can relieve the pain when you swallow.

3. Tonsillitis is an infection on the tonsil. Sometimes, a doctor will suggest a tonsillectomy, but more often than not, you can also help relieve the symptoms at home. Drink a mixture of lime juice, salt, and boiled water. This will help to ease some of the pain in your throat. Over the counter medications will also help with the fever, as well as the sore throat.

4. A sore throat is usually the result of a chill. Milk, and milk products are harmful in such a condition. Take a glass of lukewarm water with a spoonful of honey in the morning and before sleep at night. Apply a cold compress to the throat and cover the compress with a woolen cloth. For a week take only bread, vegetables and fruits.

5. An infusion of cardamom (preferably with cinnamon) is used as a gargle for the treatment of sore throat problems. This infusion is good even if the sore throat is cause due to a serious condition such as influenza; in fact the infusion helps to prevent the influenza itself.

6. Usually a few gargle with a warm salt water solution will generally reduce any swelling and tends to relieve the discomfort that comes with sore throats. To be effective you should gargle at least one time every hour using one teaspoon of common table salt dissolved in approximately 8 ounces of warm water. In the event that you are bothered by postnasal drip you can safely gargle more often in order to prevent and additional throat irritation.

7. Make up a big pot of chicken broth. Load it up with lots of garlic, onion, ginger and turmeric to help thin and expel the mucus from your system. This is one of the natural sore throat remedies that can comfort your soul, particularly if it reminds you of your grandmother's home cooking!

Natural Treatment for Ulcers 16th June 2009, 22:02
Ulcers that develop in the stomach are known as gastric or peptic ulcers. These ulcers are generally quite painful, and the pain is felt immediately after eating something. It lasts for about one to one and a half hours – this is the time taken ordinarily to digest food – and then it subsides. Due to peptic ulcers, the person dreads eating anything and there is high probability that they may become undernourished.

It is not necessary to avoid chili peppers if you have peptic ulcers. In fact, studies with lab rats and with human volunteers have even found that capsaicin in chili peppers protects the lining of the stomach from damage from aspirin and other NSAIDs. The capsaicin in chili peppers activates nerve fibers that release chemicals that greatly reduce the damage caused by these common pain relievers.Ayurveda has specific and highly effective oral treatment for peptic ulcer. Some of the well known medicines are: Shankh Bhasma, Praval Panchamrut, Kamdudha and Sutshekhar Rasa. Herbal medicines known to be effective in this condition are: Amalaki (Emblica oficinalis), Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Yashtimadhuk (Glycerrhiza glabra), Saariva (Hemidesmus indicus), Usheera (Vetiveria zizanoides), Bhunimbadi (containing mainly Andrographis paniculata) qadha (decoction) and Patoladi (containing mainly Trichosanthes dioica) qadha. Usually, complete relief is obtained in a period of four to eight weeks.

Those in an advanced state of disease should take only mil and fruits. Milk should be taken in moderate quantities-say about 250 to 300 millilitres-every hour. Leafy vegetables should be avoided in the beginning. The various types of gourds should be boiled without their rind because the rind is likely to create friction in the stomach. Flea-seed husk-10 to 15 grammes-should be taken with water or milk after every meal.

Try to avoid the following aliments because they only injure your stomach line: pepper,

chilly, peppermint, citrus fruits, cocoa, chocolate, cola, and fried fatty foods. This list can be adjusted according to your tolerances but the doctors should be consulted about it too.

The healing properties found in cabbage come from two anti-ulcer compounds, glutamine (an amino acid that fuels the cells that line the stomach and intestine) and S-methyl-methionine (labeled as Vitamin U by Dr. Cheney). Glutamine is available in capsules for those who are too busy to juice cabbage, and is proven as a superior cure to antacids. Juicing cabbage is simple, and done by cutting the head into segments small enough to fit into your juicer's feeding chute.

Antacid Drugs neutralize the excess acid levels and help in the healing of the ulcers. If taken regularly, they can help in ultimately relieving the pain caused by the ulcers, along with taking some measures such as: avoiding smoking, avoid drinking of alcohol, coffee, and tea, and avoiding use of aspirin and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Licorice is very effective in the treatment of stomach ulcers. It soothes the irritation of the inner lining of the stomach caused due to excessive acids. Its root is taken, dried and then soaked overnight in water. This is taken in an infusion with rice gruel. This is such an effective treatment that it is used in conventional allopathic medicine also.

Treat Parasites Naturally 16th June 2009, 21:58
The intestines are sometimes infested by parasites, which trouble the patient. The most commonly noticed parasites in India are: threadworm, tapeworm, hookworm and the roundworm. They exist in the intestines because they find a congenial climate for their growth which again is the result of wrong type of feeding which most people indulges in. patients suffering from these worms generally acquire a voracious appetite, but in spite of massive quantities of food they take in, there is no gain the weight. Sometimes they are pale and sickly and, therefore, gloomy. Infants and young children are likely to be irritated all the time and are prone to throw tantrums at the slightest excuse.

Treatment:

1. Follow a natural diet: Consuming lots of green vegetables, fruits and juices can keep parasites away from your body. A good balanced diet is always advisable for maintaining a toxin free body. You can consume lots of fresh fruit juices for cleansing your body. Eat high fiber food as they keep your digestive track clean. It also keeps you away from parasites.

2. You will need to find a quality raw herb supplier as your grocery store won't give you the part of the clove that you need, ( the unprocessed buds and pods). I recommend either taking powder capsules or dissolving 5-10 drops of some quality oil of clove into some water.

3. The butea is also known as palash in Indian language. Its seeds have anthelmintic properties. They are taken mixed with behera. Even otherwise, they can be taken as a paste with honey. The seeds of the butea are excellent for removal of roundworms and tapeworms.

4. Cold compresses and mudpack applied from the navel to the pubes can also help in the initial stages of the treatment. Juice of garlic could also be taken recourse to since it kills the parasites without harming the patient.

5. Safely Eliminate Parasites. You can eliminate parasites by using a variety of herbs. The herbs would include wormwood, black walnut and cloves, and some other types of herbs. These herbs don't have any dangerous side effects. You can take these herbs for 30 days at least. Although, you can take the herbs for 2 to 3 months or even longer if need be. You will be fine if you do at least one cleanse for 1 month per year. You can also do a kidney cleanse and 1 or 2 liver/gall bladder cleanses.

6. Garlic and ginger have been found very effective in Ascaris (roundworm), Giardia lamblia, Plasmodium, and Leishmania infestations. One can go for any formula containing garlic or can eat raw garlic pods. Another colon cleansing herb includes goldenseal (Hydrastis Canadensis).

7. Some of the Ayurvedic herbs such as Butea monosperma and Emblica ribes have been practiced to cure various health ailments related to intestines, especially the worms and parasites since centuries in Indian territories.

8. Pomegranate juice: Consumption of Pomegranate juice can be beneficial for killing tapeworms. You can take 4-5 glasses regularly.

Treatment and Liver Care 14th June 2009, 23:16
It is widely accepted that your liver is one of the most important organs. It is also your body's largest organ. Generally, it is incredibly resilient; however, it is not indestructible. It is really important to learn about problems that can happen with the liver and understand how to avoid problems in the future.

The liver is the master organ of the body, and most people consider the liver to be more important in the normal functioning of the body than even the brain and the heart. If there is any damage to the liver, then there could be serious complications, such as constipation, chronic gastritis, morning sickness, etc. Problems with the liver could be jaundice, hepatitis, cirrhosis and hepatomegaly (enlargement of the liver), all of which are life-threatening conditions. Hence it is very important to take proper care of the liver.

Liver care:

1. As pitta will be elevated, diet should include those which help in cooling. As there is imbalance of agni diet should be an easy to digest one. Most fresh fruits are acceptable but exclude acid forming fruits. Eat vegetable raw or steamed with slight ghee ( Clarified butter) to help the agni to burn evenly.

2. Proper hydration is essential to any detox program. This component cannot be skipped. Fortunately, it is the easiest to take care of. Plenty of pure water (which is not available from the tap!) with a slice of lemon will get the process started. Ideally, you would add electrolytic minerals or zeta crystals to the water.

3. Triphala which is a blend of three herbs Amla (Indian gooseberry), Haritaki (Chebulic myrobalan) and Vibhitaki (belliric myrobalan) is also a very powerful detoxification product. Amongst its other extremely useful properties, it helps to cleanse the digestive tract. It is also a well known herb to treat liver disorders. It regulates bile secretion and supports liver functions.

4. Asanas most helpful in hepatic conditions are vajraasana, shalabhasana, halasana, padahastasana, abdomen lift and stomach lift. These asanas improves the circulation of the blood to the hepatic cells, sensitises lymph nodes supplying liver, removes the toxins in the peritoneum and hepatic region.

5. The suggested amount of fiber is 25-30 grams of fiber per day. You need fiber to absorb bile properly otherwise the toxins in the bile can be reabsorbed back into your system. Plus, proper amounts of fiber will help keep your colon clean, help to lower cholesterol, and can reduce weight gain by giving you a feeling of fullness.

6. Proper food choices will also improve liver function. Broccoli, and calciferous vegetables such as cabbage, avocados, garlic and onions, and extra protein all help build healthy liver cells. While we all know that excessive use of alcohol causes cirrhosis of the liver, we may not be aware that we do not have to abuse alcohol to damage our liver.
